Today, I am going to talk about some of the benefits of adrenaline! Adrenaline allows us to react better to situations of stress, while the body remains in a state of alertness. The neurotransmitters are the drivers of various messages to the nervous system and are very useful in improving our health, in this case, delivering the benefits of adrenaline.
We know that the human being, when in emotional and stressful situations, generates the release of hormones such as adrenaline. Many people who experience anxiety or stress symptoms look for new ways to discharge more adrenaline, producing an incomparable sense of euphoria. The release of this substance produces a state of maximum energy and euphoria, and also a sensation of more capacity for action, leading the person to feel relaxed.
Our state of mind, negative or positive, is conditioned by environmental or mental factors, but fundamentally it is our brain that activates the states of euphoria. The states of unhappiness or good moods also depend on the activation of particular chemical substances - adrenaline being the main one. For example, some of my patients suffer from depression and sweets have a positive effect on their mood. This is because when sugars come in contact with the tongue, they stimulate the brain to release endorphins, which produce a feeling of overall well-being. When I worked as a dentist, I recommended small doses of sugars in order to make patients’ relationships with me and the trip to the dentist much more enjoyable, because who doesn’t already enjoy going to the dentist? In addition, it is fully proven that chocolate in small doses, due to phenylethylamine, returns the euphoria and good humor. With that being said, go for it and use it!
However, people who are exposed to chronic stress release adrenaline continuously, which can harm and deteriorate their health. It is demonstrated that people who are too emotional or subjected to very strong emotions are more prone to suffer a heart attack. So, moderation and finding individual alternatives to achieve equilibrium are the best remedy.
Although it is shocking, along with cortisol, adrenaline causes more fat and sugar to be deposited in the abdomen, leading to a higher chance of obesity. When human beings become accustomed to strong adrenaline discharges, they suffer symptoms similar to those of an addiction (fear, anxiety, nervousness, the need to take stimulants, or general fatigue).
It is because of all of this that I invite you to find your own balance. There are many ways to do so, but sometimes you have to make your own way, with help and guidance. I also invite you to reconnect with your original "light". Do not get so distracted by the superficial aspects of this life and remember what we are here on this planet for.
